DRIVING ASSESSMENTS
It may happen that following a change to your health, an accident, or at the request of your doctor, the SAAQ may ask you to participate in a driving assessment by an Occupational Therapist (OT).
A qualified Occupational Therapist will do a comprehensive assessment of your ability to safely drive. There are two parts to the evaluation that consist of a series of physical and cognitive tests and a road test to evaluate the practical skill of driving.
After the assessment is completed, the OT will give you their recommendation, and a report needs to be sent to the SAAQ. It is the SAAQ that will make the final decision regarding issuing your drivers permit. In the event that the test results are not favorable, advice can be provided to you to help you find other safe means of transportation.
